Jenny and Kees Vonk are taking up a new challenge!

After their trip from Cairo to Cape town in 2006 they wanted to do something similar and are now joining 25 other cyclist to go from Paris to Dakar.

Out of Paris, where they start on Sunday the 9th of September under the Eiffel Tower, they will follow peaceful roads through France, the country they know so well and will then cross the Pyrenees via the mountain of the Princedom of Andorra to go further south through Spain.

With the ferry they will be crossing the Strait of Gibraltar (sweet memories for Kees and Jenny) to gain access to the immense African continent for the second time in their life on their bicycles. Morocco will be the 4th country, crossing the Atlas mountains and passing fascinating cities of former Kings.

Morocco will be the 4th country, crossing the Atlas mountains and passing fascinating cities of former Kings.

The journey continues by traversing the Sahara via the Atlantic Route, where they will experience the emptiness that they know and love so very well from their previous trip. of Mauritania and sleep below breathtaking starry skies. The finish on the 17th of November lays in the most western point of Africa, Dakar, the capital of Senegal.

The trip will take 10 weeks and has a length of 7200 kilometers, mostly paved this time. Some of the 25 participants are ex-TdAers, so it is going to be a bit of a reunion for them as well!

Jenny & Kees will be leaving the 9th of September and arriving the 17th of November, so a total of 10 weeks and an average of 120km per day.
